Idly Express

Really delicious take away spot for South Indian food. Everything tasted authentic and amazing. We tried the thath idli, mini podi idli and medu vadas. Also their filter coffee was delicious. The rava kesari was so indulgent and tasty and not super sweet. They mainly do takeout but there were 3 tables outside with 6 chairs. Everything is self serve, I didn’t notice anyone tending to or cleaning tables. I’m looking forward to trying their lunch menu and thalis - everything looked super promising. Highly recommend.

It’s a small restaurant that offers many South Indian food options including but not limited to idli, pongal, vada, sambar, hot lunch with rice, bisibelebath, pulihora and such. The food is tasty but a bit a expensive for lunch meal compared to other options around. Ask for spoons and napkins if you order to go. They have curries and sambar for sale as well. If you are craving for winter tic South Indian food, I would recommend it. Their bisibelebath was amazing and worth trying out.

This one's the best authentic South Indian restaurants in east bay! I love all the items that I've tried here. Mini Tiffin and Hot lunch with rice are the best items on their menu in my opinion. The chutney and sambar are very authentic. For the price we pay, they could offer slightly more quantity though (especially the chutneys). Sambar, Rasam, Kootu and Curry are very tasty too! Highly recommend. Really wish they offer dine in though.

After seeing so many posts on Instagram about this place my husband and I decided to go check it out. We got the idli vada combo and the mini tiffin. The sambar is DELICIOUS! Perfectly balance of spicy and tangy. The tomato chutney is also delicious! The idlis of course were delicious. The only two items I didn't care for were the pongal and kesari. Both had waaay too much ghee. I know that ghee is needed to make these dishes but it was just a bit too much and took away from the normally delicious flavor of the items. Seating is limited, so plan accordingly.

After indulging in countless culinary adventures showcased on Jay's Facebook Live videos, I finally had the pleasure of savoring the renowned Thatte Idly and Medhu Vada Sambar at Idly Express in Fremont. To say that my experience exceeded expectations would be an understatement. Nestled in the heart of Fremont, this establishment not only offers exceptional cuisine but also boasts an impressively efficient and amiable staff. Placing my order was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised when my takeout was ready in just 10 minutes! Even the kids were thoroughly impressed, with one of them exclaiming, "This is the best Medhu Vada I've ever tasted, and the Idly is like nothing I've ever had before." Furthermore, the prices are quite reasonable, and the portions are delightfully generous. I'm already looking forward to returning for another mouthwatering meal. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone, in the Bay Area and beyond, gives Idly Express (also known as Mylapore Express) a try. With multiple locations throughout the Bay Area, there's no excuse not to experience their culinary delights.

Today I visited Fremont idly express location. I got 3 mini tiffin, 2 sambar vadai, 1 puliyotharai, 1 ladoo box, 1 coffee. Every one of menu was exceptional, just like how it tasted at the Folsom lovation. The cashier Srinivasan was very friendly and welcoming. I would go visit this place again as the food quantity and service is great.👍

Recently bought the puliyodharai mix. They forced to buy the powder as well. Daylight robbery!!!! I could have easily bought grand sweets thokku from Indian stores for couple of dollars. This combo was just horrible. The powder is nothing but chili powder and coriander powder. The thokku was just Puli paste ...ridiculous. when I called and said they don't even have the courtesy to call back despite us being regular customers. We paid $13 for a pulikaachal thokku and now can't eat even one spoon of it!
